Day and Night

There is nowhere to hide
in the light of day
Because even in the shadows
There are always people watching.

We go about our days
Carefully obeying the laws of light,
Performing ordinary tasks,
Keeping the peace for another day’s work

Without the presence of darkness
It limits the opportunity for the weak,
The ones that pathetically lurk in the night
Hiding behind freedom of the day’s duties.

Those are the ones we watch in the day
Struggling to survive under the sun’s rath
With no more darkness to hide under,
The consequences of their activity prevail

Living with the lack of,
Instead of having enough of,
Is living in the darkness,
Instead of in the light

And choosing a future that can’t be seen, 
A future with mishaps and trouble 
Because not finding the way through the dark
Would lead to failure.

We watch those who suffer in the dark
To remind us why we continue in the light.
Choose the day.
Choose the light.
